- Lifepak CR2 4 Year Data Plan
One of the latest and most innovative defibrillators on the market is the Lifepak CR2 AED range which boasts four defibrillator industry firsts in technology. One being the 3G capability, allowing your device to stay connected to the LIFELINKcentral Programme Management system a
The 3G capability that is offered with the Lifepak CR2 ensures your life-saving defibrillator will always stay connected, alerting you if there is a problem with the device at any time or place.
About the Lifepak CR2
The Lifepak CR2 is available in both semi-automatic and fully automatic configurations. The only difference between these two options is that the semi-automatic devices will only shock the patient once the first responder has pressed a button to actively deliver the shock whereas the fully automatic devices will deliver the shock without a prompt from the first responder if the patient requires one. A shock will only be administered if the patient’s heart is in shockable rhythm.
The Lifepak CR2 is equipped with ClearVoice™ technology, providing the responder with vocal prompts for any rescue location, ensuring you never miss a step of the rescue process, regardless of how noisy the surrounding environment is.
The Lifepak CR2 allows first responders to effortlessly change from adult mode to paediatric mode at the touch of a button. This device will lower the Joule output to a level that is safe for a child's heart. This will save valuable time and speed up the rescue process as there is no need to swap from adult to paediatric pads.
Maintenance of your life-saving device is made easy with LIFELINKcentral Programme Management system. LIFELINKcentral will continually monitor your defibrillator and its accessories ensuring that they're ready for use at all times. You will be notified with 90, 60 and 30 day notifications prior to the expiry date of batteries and pads, allowing you plenty of time to purchase replacements.
LIFELINKcentral will also notify you if there is ever an issue with your device. If the CR2 fails the daily, weekly or monthly self-test, you will be alerted that your defibrillator requires attention, ensuring this can be rectified so that the AED can always be used in a cardiac emergency.

What is an IP rating?
An IP (Ingress Protection) rating classifies the degrees of protection of an electrical item against water and dust. Beginning with IP and followed by two numbers, the first digit is indicative of the item’s resistance to dust and the second is of its resistance to water. Protection against dust is measured from */ 0 up to 6, whereas protection against water is measured from */ 0 up to 8. The protection against these elements increases as the number does, with * / 0 telling us that the item has NO protection against either dust or water.
Why is this important?
The IP rating of a defib will tell you (and us!) whether it is suitable for the environment where it’s most likely to be used; for example, if there is a good chance your defib may be used in an outdoor environment, you will need a unit with a higher IP rating to ensure it can be used regardless the weather or terrain. If you are looking for a defibrillator more suitable for an indoors environment, you can afford to choose one with a lower IP rating, based on the other features that may be more suitable.
When a particular product is “approved” by the FDA, this marks the pass in the premarket approval (or PMA) application of a particular product which has been submitted to the FDA.
To receive approval of a device through a PMA application, the applicant in question must provide reasonable assurance of the device’s safety and effectiveness which is then challenged by the FDA before being approved.
Whilst all AEDs can be used to increase chances of survival and even save a life in the event of a cardiac arrest, FDA approved devices provide that extra piece of mind that the specific unit being used has undergone vigorous and substantial testing to ensure that that particular piece of equipment operates just as it should and provides the most effective care possible.
Many manufacturers perform their own tests on products, but not all defibrillators will undergo the same premarket approval as FDA approved devices and there is no guarantee or stamp of certification if testing has taken place with non-FDA approved products.
