Unfortunately, Sudden Cardiac Arrest does not discriminate. Children also experience SCA. Paediatric pads work by lowering the joule outlet to deliver a shock at a suitable level for a child. Electrode pads deliver the shock from the defibrillator to the patient; they are essential for a successful rescue.

Unlike other defibrillator accessories, electrode pads are one use only and require replacing after use or when expired. The shelf-life of paediatric pads vary depending on the manufacturer and the expiry date is on the back of the pad packet. Having multiple sets of pads ensures you're always ready to respond in the event of an emergency.
