Adult Electrode Pads

Electrode pads deliver the shock from the defibrillator to the patient. Making sure you have at least one set of in-date electrode pads is essential for a successful rescue.

Having electrode pads on hand during a life saving emergency is absolute necessity when you have a defibrillator. We have a large range of electrode pads available for all defibrillator makes and models and we strongly advise having a spare pair handy too.

Pad Expiry Dates

It is important to buy fresh electrode pads every couple of years (depending on the manufacturer) as the adhesive that attaches the pad to the skin expires and the defibrillator will not be able to provide electro shock therapy to the patient.

We also think it is a great idea to have a spare pair of electrode pads handy just in case your first pair get accidentally damaged during the rescue process or are used incorrectly. If this happens then the effectiveness of the electrode pads decreases and in some cases, the pads may be unable to provide electro shock therapy at all.

Paediatric Pads

Most defibrillator models offer a paediatric function to enable a defibrillator to be used on both adults and children alike, but some AEDs require you to have paediatric pads on hand to connect to the defibrillator in the event of a child suffering a cardiac arrest.

Paediatric pads are key when using a defibrillator on a child as, once connected, the AED reduces the joule output administered to that of a safer level for a child’s heart.

We stock all the paediatric pads for all makes and models of defibrillators we sell and recommend that you should have a spare pair on as unfortunately, children are just as vulnerable as adults when it comes to cardiac arrest.
